NoLocalOption.com Starts
a Website to Explore Selling Prairie Meadows-
July 26, 2007, West Des Moines, Iowa
The local option sales tax
vote on July 10, 2007 is over. Now NoLocalOption.com is
responding to the thousands of requests of Polk County residents to
find out why the Prairie Meadows revenue stream is a confusing
disappointment. In order to explore further a new
website was created called
PolkCountyJackpot.com. This website will be
valuable tool in exploring the possibility of tax payers selling
Prairie Meadows to private industry. The group estimates a 28E
fund from the proceeds could deliver $100M every 2 years for
attractions and other taxpayer funded items to be voted on by
taxpayers.
"What better way to control the revenue stream then to give
taxpayers the final say in what they want to spend this money on."
says NoLocalOption.com founder George Davey.
Working with groups all over Polk County they hope to bring several
proposals up for consideration over the next few months.
Ultimately, they hope taxpayers can sell Prairie Meadows and cash
out. Other counties across Iowa could also participate in the
28E.
