NoLocalOption.com Gears
Up to Stop the Clarke County Local Option Tax-
Aug 14, 2007, Osceola, Iowa
Another local option tax
vote is coming up in Clarke County Iowa on September 25, 2007.
People in Clarke County have asked NoLocalOption.com to help out, so
they are providing signs, web support and telephone support to help
fight this unnecessary tax. The vote is on whether or not to
extend the current 7% local option tax to pay for a
reservoir/recreational lake to supply additional water for people
not even living in Clark County. Many folks have had it up to
here with this bizarre proposal. If the lake tax proposal were
to pass, Clarke County residents would be paying for their water
twice, once on their water bill and through a new sales tax on
nearly everything they buy from fast food to the water itself.
The tax would impact lower income families more meaning they would
be paying an even higher price for their water. Only a scant
few are supporting the tax, mostly wealthy developers looking to
developing lake front property using your sales tax dollars.
